Q: How do you pronounce Lilahpops? A: lie-lah-pops
Hi, thanks for stopping by. This website came about as my interest in photography grew from being a pleasant diversion to more of a passion. The main focus is digital photography; I was introduced to digital way back in 2005 when I bought a Pentax Optio S5i to use on an overseas holiday.
I also own a 1950s vintage Voigtlander Vito BL which doesn’t come close to being digital – not even battery powered – and a c.20 year old Pentax ME-F SLR. Using these cameras is like being thrown in the deep-end, or being without a paddle. They demand knowledge of basic photographic techniques and I have to say it’s a an exciting – and challenging – way to learn.
Share the fun
I began this website in May 2007 as a way to record and share what I learn about photography. As a photography hobbyist, I am always keen to learn new tricks, always experimenting … with varying degrees of success. This website also forces encourages me to become a better photographer and to further my knowledge so I can recite more than the Sunny 16, Moony 11 rule (among others) by heart …
The awesome photos I find on Flickr have also inspired me to delve into new post-production techniques.
One aspect of photography that took me totally by surprise was the online community. The generosity of knowledge-sharing, tips, advice and the general all-round good vibe is wonderful.
A bit about Anthea
The photo above was my submission to the Shoot Yourself Project at Epic Edits Weblog in January 2008.
Career-wise: I started out as an archivist which morped into web design/development and I currently work in an archives repository as an “online archvist”/web manager.

What the heck is Lilahpops?
I wish I could say it was an exciting photography technique that I invented, however it’s not quite that amazing. I have a cat (one of three) called Lilah and she somehow came to be known as Lilah-pops. I have purloined her nickname…
