I had the first version of Vito BL (the one with a Bewi light meter) since it came on the market in 1956. A marvelous camera! The photos I took with that Color Skopar 2.8 lens have never been surpassed by the various top grade cameras I had since then.
I just want to add that I always found that the above mentioned ‘quirk’ is a very good feature: you never risk to ‘expose’ a whole film and the find out that there was no film in the camera.
I did exactly that with a Canon SLR on my mothers 80 years birthday and wishes I had used a Voigtländer Vito or Vitomatic.

The trigger release will operate if you open the back of the camera and manually turn the film drive sprocket in the direction of the film wind-on.

Duh, I finally put film in mine and realized that the shutter doesn’t release unless there is film in the camera. I shot a few pictures this afternoon and plan on using the rest of the roll tomorrow.
